The Book Thing of Baltimore

This place is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and you go there to get free books. That is, you can take any book you want off any shelf for FREE -- no money or other donations needed, and no strings attached. They've got popular fiction, classics, textbooks, National Geographic magazines, The New Yorker, cookbooks, programming books, dictionaries, German literature, and more. The Baltimore Free Store

On certain dates at a particular location, volunteers for this organization collect donated and salvaged goods, then redistribute them throughout Baltimore. The main focus is to "give what you can, or take what you need." Their website is http://www.freestorebaltimore.org/

Outdoor Movies

Baltimore has many places that show free movies throughout the summer. To see the schedule for Outdoor Movies, look at the schedule on baltimore.about.com. In particular, students go to Little Italy, Fells Point, The American Visionary Art Museum, and the Homewood Campus.

Outdoor Concerts

• Baltimore Outdoor Concerts: Baltimore itself has many outdoor concerts, including some on the first Thursdays of each summer month, or music at Artscape in July.
• Summer Nights with the BSO: The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays throughout Baltimore, from their collaboration with Queen at the Pier 6 Pavilion to playing John Williams at Oregon Ridge State Park.
