Community service is a huge component of many students' lives here. For some examples, see below:
Organized by BMEDunbar-IMP: Dunbar Incentives Mentoring ProgramThe Incentives Mentoring Program fosters the academic and personal growth of students at Dunbar High School. Volunteers provide after-school tutoring for the students. The students design and participate in monthly community service projects to benefit others. In addition, there are quarterly field trips to build a sense of teamwork and camaraderie. IMP meets every Monday and Tuesday from 3:15pm - 6pm in the Dunbar High School library. Dinner is provided for the students and volunteers.

A doctor supervises students as they strive to diagnose the patients, who usually just walk in. In order to get started, you need to show up at the clinic on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. The other participants will guide you through what you'll need to do. If you email brmclinic@gmail.com, you can sign up on their mailing list and/or arrange for a shuttle to take you to and from the clinic.
